Laura Sisk, DNP, RN

Assistant Professor/Clinical

With my experience as a nurse and as an educator, I have the honor of teaching the next generation of nurses. I am passionate about teaching and helping students learn to provide exceptional and compassionate care. My clinical background focuses on Maternal/Child Health with a specialty in caring for the Childbearing Family. Additionally, my clinical background includes Maternal/Child community-based care. I have partnered with many community agencies and implemented Community Service-Learning projects to help address health disparities to improve health outcomes. I am passionate about providing health promotion education to underserved populations who are living with various health and social inequities.  My community partnerships helped me appreciate the value of health promotion education, interprofessional collaborations and community engagement in promoting health and addressing the needs of individuals and their families. As a Registered Nurse, I have 30 years of experience in family-centered care working with new mothers, newborns, and childbearing families. Through my teaching and community-based partnerships, it is my goal is to educate the next generation of nurses and help underserved populations gain access to vital health care resources and services that will improve health outcomes and address health disparities.
