Mirsada Serdarevic, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Mirsada Serdarevic, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Quantitative and Qualitative Health Science at the UT School of Public Health, San Antonio. She earned her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Florida as a National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) T32 trainee. Over the course of her career, Dr. Serdarevic has held academic and research positions, including her recent role as a Research Scientist at the Center for Epidemiology and Healthcare Delivery Research at JPS Health Network. Additionally, she served as an appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education at the Burnett School of Medicine at Texas Christian University (TCU).

Dr. Serdarevic’s research focuses on the prevention of substance use disorders and the enhancement of treatment, with a particular emphasis on addressing gaps in care and unmet needs. Her work is dedicated to overcoming barriers to effective treatment, ensuring underserved populations receive the support they need. Given the strong correlation between substance use and both morbidity and mortality, Dr. Serdarevic’s research highlights the development and implementation of prevention strategies across various stages—primary, secondary, and tertiary—within community-based settings.
