Raj Sehgal, MD

Division Chief, Hospital Medicine at the South Texas Veterans' Affairs Healthcare System

Associate Professor/Clinical

Dr. Raj Sehgal is a published, board-certified Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio in 2010 as an Assistant Professor/Clinical, rising to the rank of Associate Professor/Clinical in 2016; he currently serves as the Division Chief of Hospital Medicine at the South Texas Veterans' Affairs Healthcare System. He maintains active clinical service at both University Hospital and the South Texas Veterans' Healthcare System on teaching and non-teaching services. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas before going on to complete his Internal Medicine residency and General Internal Medicine fellowship at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. Dr. Sehgal is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Sehgal’s clinical interests include management of cirrhosis and value-based health care. He is the recipient of the Division of Hospital Medicine's "Clinician of the Year Award" (2023), nominated by his peers as a stellar clinician who exemplifies superlative patient care.
