Dr. Ankur Segon is a published, board-certified Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio as a Professor/Clinical and the Division Chief of Hospital Medicine in June 2021. Dr. Segon earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University College of Medical Sciences of Delhi University in India before going on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL in 2008. He also holds a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Massachusetts, earned in 2010, and a Master of Education in Medical Education from the University of Cincinnati which was earned in 2022.
Dr. Segon is the recipient of several honors including St. Francis Hospital's "Student Teaching Award" (2008), Froedtert Hospital's "Patient Organization Excellence Team (POET) Award" (2010, 2013) and "Extra-Miler" (2011) designation for exceptional commitment to teamwork, the Medical College of Wisconsin's "Outstanding Medical Student Teaching Award" (2012) and "Faculty Vitality Award" (2014), the Society of General Internal Medicine's Midwest Region "Clinician Educator of the Year Award" (2013), "Faculty Development Committee Professional Development Award" (2014), and listed as "Best Doctor" by Best Doctors from 2016 to 2018. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in November 2012 and a Senior Fellow of Hospital Medicine (SFHM) by the Society of Hospital Medicine in November 2019 and is also a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine and the Clerkship Directors of Internal Medicine.
