Erica R. Oliveira, D.D.S., M.P.H.

Distinguished Teaching Professor

Dr. Oliveira's expertise is a clinician educator. Her primary responsibility is group leader to 29 fourth- and third-year dental students. Group leader responsibilities also include administrative management of a patient care coordinator, a scheduler and a dental assistant, besides direct contact with specialists. She is also responsible for ensuring dental students complete their clinical course competencies.

She mentors students and serves as faculty advisor and student research project mentor. Her time with direct student contact and patient care is 32 hours per week. She is also a course director of three dental school courses and a clinical rotation. One of the courses provide urgent dental care for patients in San Antonio and adjacent areas. Besides student contact and patient care, Dr. Oliveira is also interested in research in dental education, urgent dental care and tooth wear. 

Dr. Oliveira has been designated a Distinguished Teaching Professor in 2011 and is a member of the Academy of Master Teachers. Other teaching awards while at the Dental School include the Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence and the Dental School Faculty Assembly Teaching Excellence Award. She is a member of the Mu Nu Chapter of OKU (Honor dental society), and is a Fellow of the Academy of Genral Dentistry and a Fellow in the American College of Dentists.
