Dr. Robert Nathanson is a published, board-certified Associate Professor/Clinical who joined UT Health San Antonio in August 2014 and practices as a Hospitalist at the South Texas Veterans' Affairs Healthcare System where he currently serves as the Co-Director of the Medicine Procedure Service. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics (graduating Cum Laude with Honors) from the University of California Los Angeles in 2006 before going on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2010. Dr. Nathanson completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 2013, serving as Chief Resident from 2013 to 2014. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Nathanson is the receipient of several honors including the Gold Foundation's "Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award" (2013), "Outstanding Faculty Teacher Medicine Clerkship" (2015-2016), "Teacher of the Year for Inpatient Faculty" (2017), the VA "I-Care Award" (2017), and the Division of Hospital Medicine "Triple Threat Award" for 2023. He was inducted into the Gold Foundation's Humanism Honor Society in 2014.
