Not currently seeking mentors.Dr. Basler received his undergraduate and MD degrees from the University of Missouri. Between these, he completed his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y. After a Residency in Urology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the recipient of a 3-year American Cancer Society Career Development Award in Urologic Oncology and stayed on as faculty at Washington University from 1990 through 1998. In 1998 he joined the faculty of the UT Health San Antonio Division of Urologic Surgery as an Associate Professor. After the Division of Urology became the Department of Urology, Dr. Basler was promoted to Professor. Dr. Basler has published numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and has edited a textbook on Urologic Oncology in addition to serving as a scientific reviewer for several prominent urologic journals. In 2008, Dr. Basler served as the President of the Texas Urologic Society, representing over 400 member Urologists.
