Ildiko Agoston, MD, FACC, FASE

Ildiko Agoston, M.D. received her medical degree in 1996 at the Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary. She completed her internal medicine residency training in Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia and completed her fellowship training in cardiology and level III adult echocardiography at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She trained in cardiac MRI and cardiac CT at Duke Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Center, Durham, North Carolina and Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute of New York. She has held academic appointments at UTMB Galveston and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
She has a great passion for Women’s Health. While at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Agoston developed a Women’s Center promoting comprehensive evidence-based care.
After joining the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2011 she developed the Women’s Comprehensive Health Institute (WCHI) at the Medical Arts and Research Center (MARC). The goal of this center is to coordinate care for women of all ages in order to help promote healthy lifestyles and provide screening and treatment for our female patients in a convenient, easy access, one-stop shop/same day experience. As a cardiologist she provides cardiovascular risk stratification to many women and provides high-risk pregnancy expert opinion, incorporating multi-modality cardiovascular imaging in the decision making process(echocardiography, nuclear myocardial perfusion stress testing and exercise stress testing, coronary CTA, and calcium scoring as well as cardiac MRI). She is the Medical Director of the cardiology practice at the MARC. She is a passionate teacher and she also serves as the Director of Nuclear Cardiology for the Division of Cardiology and oversees the nuclear training of the cardiology fellows.
